My Story
Opening Overview
From the disciplined artistry of ballet to the dynamic world of events, Adam Quigley’s career is a testament to resilience, innovation, and unwavering dedication. Born in Paignton, Adam’s journey began at the Pamela De Waal Dance School, eventually leading him to the esteemed Royal Ballet School in London. His professional ballet career spanned companies like The Royal Ballet, Israel Ballet, and Northern Ballet, before a life-changing injury redirected his path.
Adam’s transition into the events industry in 2003 marked the start of a remarkable career, defined by his ability to turn challenges into opportunities. From operational roles to strategic leadership, Adam has consistently delivered excellence, transforming venues and businesses into thriving enterprises. As Founder and CEO of The Events Consultant, Adam now leverages his extensive experience to help clients across the events industry reach their full potential.
Early Life and Career in Ballet
Adam’s introduction to dance was serendipitous—sparked by a fascination with a mayonnaise advert as a child. This led him to the Pamela De Waal Dance School, and by the age of 10, Adam’s talent earned him a full grant to train at the Royal Ballet School. Over seven years, he honed his craft, performing at the Royal Opera House and joining the Royal Ballet as a corps de ballet member.
Adam’s career blossomed internationally as a principal dancer with the Israel Ballet, touring globally across Japan, China, Finland, and the United States. He later returned to the UK, performing extensively with Northern Ballet. However, a devastating injury at Sadler’s Wells in 2003 ended his dancing career just as he was set to rejoin the Royal Ballet as a soloist.
Transition to the Events Industry
Adam’s entry into events began humbly at Mean Fiddler Music Group, where he started as bar support before rapidly ascending to Area Manager, overseeing 25 venues across London. This experience cemented his expertise in operations, team management, and event delivery.
In 2006, Adam took on The Bloomsbury Ballroom, transforming it into a thriving event space hosting over 200 events annually. Alongside this, he managed accounts for Vince Power Music Group, gaining financial acumen that further broadened his skill set.
Strategic Leadership Roles
From 2011, Adam undertook significant consultancy roles, including at Troxy, where he expanded capacity and modernised operations, and at Location House, introducing wet hire models that revolutionised revenue streams. He also spearheaded Venue Event Search, a venue-finding service for London clients, demonstrating his knack for strategic innovation.
At Ministry Venues, Adam established a separate corporate identity for Ministry of Sound’s event spaces, transforming a struggling department into a multimillion-pound enterprise. Over eight years, he built a dedicated team and developed a brand that resonated with the corporate market.
